2021 Triple Crown
A show-stopping blend

2021 Triple Crown

Vintage Overview:

The 2021 Triple Crown Red Blend represents a pinnacle for Grimm’s Bluff, showcasing the synergy of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc grown on our estate in Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara. The 2021 season was marked by a cool, steady spring followed by warm, even ripening conditions that allowed each varietal to develop in harmony. Moderate yields and long hangtime produced fruit of exceptional concentration and purity. As always, our commitment to organic farming and meticulous handwork in the vineyard comes through in a wine that balances power, structure, and graceful lift.

We recommend giving this wine at least 30 minutes in a decanter before serving. A brief rest allows the aromatics and texture to fully open.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The aromatics open with blackcurrant, wild blueberry, and crushed violet, supported by subtle tones of cedar shavings and baking cocoa. As the wine evolves in the glass, deeper notes of brambleberry, graphite, and warm spice emerge. On the palate, the Triple Crown is generous yet composed, delivering layers of ripe blackberry, plum skin, and pomegranate framed by fine, chalky tannins. The Petit Verdot contributes a dark, muscular core, while the Cabernet Franc adds brightness and a savory edge. A long, seamless finish echoes with blue fruit, mineral tension, and a faint whisper of vanilla bean.
Winemaker Notes
Harvested by hand from select blocks chosen for concentration and structure, the 2021 Triple Crown was fermented in stainless steel with careful cap management to extract color and tannin without overworking the fruit. The lots were aged 18 months in French oak (40% new, 60% neutral), allowing the blend’s components to knit together and gain depth. Cabernet Sauvignon forms the backbone, Petit Verdot adds intensity and length, and Cabernet Franc contributes aromatics and lift. The result is a polished, cellar-worthy wine that still offers immediate appeal.
Food Pairing Notes
This blend’s depth and structure make it an ideal partner for richly flavored dishes. Pair it with herb-crusted lamb racks, braised short ribs, grilled venison, or a smoked prime rib. For vegetarian options, it excels alongside truffle risotto, roasted root vegetables, or a mushroom and caramelized onion tart. On the cheese board, reach for aged Gouda, Comté, or Pecorino Toscano. For dessert, the wine beautifully complements dark chocolate, hazelnut tortes, or espresso-infused pastries, where its dark fruit and firm acidity shine.
