The Wine that started it all. In 2013 our vineyard was just coming into it’s own and we decided to make 1 barrel of Sauvignon Blanc to see where flavors were heading without expectations or reservations. What was introduced transformed our lives.
The primary citrus aromas and flavors wrapped in mouth watering minerality are maturing into something special. Warm orchard fruits of pear and apple lead with nuances of jasmine tea. Herbed chèvre will delight the senses and awaken the palate.
Our first concrete egg fermentation and élevage and what would set us on a quest to produce the most distinctive Sauvignon Blanc we could possibly imagine. Richer, rounder and more concentrated, this debut Reserve bottling changed everything about the way we looked at making wine. Ripe and dried orchard fruits dance throughout the nose and palate on this incredible mature expression of Sauvignon. Apricot pit, poached pear, dehydrated peach and an almost smokey German chamomile. From oysters to roasted chicken and vegetables, this wine will be sure to compliment and elevate your experiences. Upon revisiting this wine our hearts were instantly warmed, and it simply cannot be missed.
Our first expression of Cabernet released. Deep black cherry, plum and cassis have beautifully integrated into a lush and rich rendition of Cabernet. Warm baking spices and and edge of graphite bring a bit more serious spirit to the core structure of this wine. It is in a fantastic window and calls for prime cuts of beef or concentrated red sauced pasta dishes.
Exclusively off the trellised blocks, the 2014 Cliff Hanger is nothing short of being a classic wine from our estate. Crème de cassis, toasted spice, dried herbs, new saddle leather and graphite all emerge in a whirlwind of savory goodness. Amazing concentration and a Nobel tannin structure have always been the markers for this wine. It's. easy to see why this wine was so profoundly popular. Fire up the grill and season up a thick ribeye steak!
These very special head-trained blocks showcase such a pure expression of terroir from Grimm's Bluff. the Vines are grown with minimal intervention and a natural spirit. and this. first release is an incredible glimpse into the exciting future these vines will guide us through. It's still generous with warm plum and black cherry. pie, vanilla, espresso and clove. One. of our all-time favorites! A serious wine that would like a serious cheese or a deeply flavored meat like lamb.
